The Ron Barceló rum brand and the company producing it were created by a Spanish emigrant born on the island of Mallorca in 1930, in the territory of the Dominican Republic. The Barceló rum became one of the most sought-after drinks on the island within a few years, then by the 80s it could call itself the country's most popular rum. The company, ranked among the most prestigious companies of the Dominican Republic, stepped out onto the international market from the 90s, and is now present in more than 50 countries. The distillation, ageing and bottling of the rum takes place in the city named San Pedro de Macoris lying in the eastern part of the island.
