Charles Heidsieck 2006 Blanc des Millénaires Champagne (0,75L 12%)
Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2006 (0.75 L, 12%)
The Blanc des Millénaires 2006 is one of the Charles Heidsieck house's most special prestige cuvées, made exclusively in exceptional years. Made from 100% Chardonnay, from grapes coming from the most excellent vineyards of the Côte des Blancs — Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Avize and Vertus. The wine aged more than twelve years on the lees in the house's legendary chalk cellars before being disgorged.
Tasting notes
Color: Deep, golden shade, with fine and long-lasting bubbles.
Nose: Rich and complex — toasted brioche, honey, butter caramel, candied lemon, pineapple and fine minerality appear.
Flavor: The sip is elegant, silky and layered. Ripe fruits — peach, quince, dried citrus — and almond, nutty notes lead, while the fresh acid backbone and the chalky minerality create perfect balance. The finish is exceptionally long, refined and mineral.
Style
The warmer character of the 2006 year gives silky richness to the wine, while the freshness and precision characteristic of the house remain. This Champagne is at once refined and deep, showing all the elegance of Chardonnay.
Drinking suggestion
Drinking window: Perfect now too, but will develop in bottle for another 10-12 years.
Ideal temperature: 9-11 °C
Glass: Wide tulip or white wine glass so that the aromas can fully unfold.
Food pairing: An excellent choice for oyster, lobster, shellfish dishes, grilled fish, but pairs wonderfully with elegant poultry and vanilla apple desserts too.
