The Courvoisier cognacs are made from the best yields originating from the grape regions of French Grand and Petit Champagne, as well as the Fins Bois and Borderies region. The beginning of its history reaches back all the way to the early 19th century. At this time Emmanuel Courvoisier operated a wine shop in the town of Bercy in France. According to the legend in 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte himself also came into the shop, and he liked the own-made cognac so much that he later took several barrels of it to the island of St Helena, and the soldiers transporting it simply referred to it as "Napoleon's favourite drink". Encouraged by this Emmanuel's son, Felix Courvoisier registered and founded in 1835 the company which still operates successfully to this day.
