A mezcal made from 8-9-year-old Espadin agave grown in the town of Oaxaca, Mexico. After the harvest the pinas are separated, and cooked for 4-6 days. After this it is cooled for 24 hours, then ground. Depending on the season it is fermented for 2-8 days, then distilled twice in a covered copper still, and finally bottled. The Casamigos is a tequila company, which was founded by the American actor George Clooney with his friends, the entrepreneur Rande Gerber and the real-estate developer Mike Meldman. (The drink brand has been in the ownership of Diageo since 2017.) Their idea was to make the best-flavoured, smoothest tequila and mezcal, whose flavour does not have to be "covered up" with salt or lemon, because on its own it is also excellent. This is why they worked for years on the making of the Casamigos with the master distillers working in Mexican Jalisco, and held many blind tastings, until they found the perfect formula. Originally they did not intend the drink for the public, they only wanted to enjoy it with friends and family, but in the end the brand outgrew itself, and today we can encounter it in many parts of the world.
