The Janneau company was founded in 1851. Today it has associated with the Martell company, but it still operates according to the old traditions. It has five own distilleries, of which two are traditional, and three are of the more modern Cognac system. Among its products an important role is played by the traditional Jeanneau X.O. and the Jeanneau V.S.O.P. made with Cognac-system distillation.
Armagnac, alongside cognac, is the other most famous wine distillate. The Armagnac region is located in south-west France. At the production of Armagnac great care is paid to the choice of the suitable grape varieties and the casks intended for ageing.
The Janneau Vintage editions are in every case made from the distillates of a single year. Thanks to the producer's high quality requirements and experience here we cannot talk of the good and worse vintages or harvests customary in the case of wines, however the different vintages still differ from each other, since the barrels used, and the time of the ageing, the conditions create perceptibly different drinks. The time of the distillation is always on the front - and the time of the bottling on the back label of the bottle.
