In antiquity the words 'Non Plus Ultra' were found on the Pillars of Hercules at the end of the known world, at the exit of the Mediterranean Sea at the Strait of Gibraltar, to mark it. The Non Plus Ultra served as a warning to the sailors not to continue their journey into this unknown world – the Non Plus Ultra comes from Latin, and in correct translation means 'there is no more'! A.H. Riise aged the excellent rum of the Ambre d'or Excellence in barrels in which Sauternes dessert wine was previously kept, lending honeyed, floral notes to the drink.
